According to the timeline of obsolete media formats shown in the Cornell University Library’s “Chamber of Horrors: Obsolete and Endangered Media”, we can see how new technologies are rapidly being created, but old ones are being pushed aside and the associated data is no longer available. The rapid evolution and proliferation of different types of technologies highlights how technological obsolescence will become a major problem in the future.
“Obsolete Perspectives” is a photographic documentation of the transience of technology, an exploration of the relationship between humans and technologies considered obsolete, which aims to offer a reflection on the rapid aging of technologies and the phenomenon of planned obsolescence.
